Imphal, June 15 2013 : As part of a month long celebration of World Blood Donor Day 2013, the Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion, RIMS under the sponsorship of RIMS, MSACS and SBTC has organized a voluntary blood donation camp today at the department premises.
A total of 263 blood units including 55 from female donors were collected, informed a statement issued by Dr A Meina, head of the department.
Major donors are from 69 battalion CRPF, Mantripukhri, 109 Bn CRPF Mongsangei, 13 Bn BSF Koirengei, 40 AR Chinga Singjamei, 6/8 Gurkhs Regiment Bishnupur, Manipur Police Training College Pangei, Association of Voluntary Blood Donors Manipur (AVBDM), DESAM, AMADA including one mother and her daughter, LMS Law College, PSSHG (Association for blind people) including 8 blind persons Takyel, College of Nursing RIMS; PG, UG students and faculties of RIMS including 2 professors and one Registrar, Siva Sewa Sangha Thangal Bazar etc.
Prof A Meina Singh, Head of Department of IHBT Dept, RIMS on behalf of the RIMS expressed heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the organizations and individual blood donors for giving the gift of life by donating blood today.
