Imphal, June 08, 2013: Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System in Manipur while welcoming the decision of the women vendors to stage sit-in-protest on ILPS demand at Khwairamband Bazar on June 9 said that the restriction in movement of non-locals at various localities of Manipur will continue till June 15. In a press statement issued by Committee Media Coordinator Somorendro Thokchom, the committee urged the women vendors of other nearby markets to stage similar protest at their respective markets.
The press statement said that with major business activities are controlled by non-locals, fixing of prices of various commodities are done by them in Manipur.
With the influx of migrant workers, State natives are now hard to get work in Manipur, the press release said and added that it has worsened the problem of unemployment in Manipur.
Non-locals are also taking away the seats in educational institutes which are supposed to get by the students of Manipur, it added.
The press release further said that many non-locals have now started outraging the modesty of Manipuri women.
Many of them are also indulging in different crimes, it added.
