Imphal, June 09 2013: Of the four rifles taken away by a personnel of 5 MR last Friday, two have been recovered.
MR Rifleman Jamkholal Lupho who was posted at Khingtubung village under Tousem police station fled from his post taking two SLRs, one AK-47 and one Insas rifle.
After registration of a case at Jiribam police station, a combined team of police and MR personnel led by SI N Jayenta conducted search operations at Khulbung and Khingtubung yesterday at the advice of the Jiribam Additional SP .
In the course of the search operation, the two SLRs taken away Jamkholal were recovered from a gorge located just about 100 metres away from Khulbung village.
With the 5 MR CO stationed at Jiribam, search operations are being conducted at suspected places to nab the deserter.
In the meantime, the case registered at Jiribam PS has been transferred to Tousem PS .
