Imphal, July 18 2013: Following a massive landslide near Nung Dolan in Tamenglong district, Imphal-Jiribam highway has been cut off.
Our Jiribam correspondent informed that large rocks have been skidding down the hill slope last week at different places near Nung Dolan ultimately blocking the highway entirely.
However a late evening report said that the stretch has been repaired and vehicles have started passing through from 4 pm.
On the other hand, Chief Minister O Ibobi convened a meeting this evening, which was attended by CAF and PD Minister M Okendro, representatives of IOC, All Manipur Petroleum Product Transporters Association and Transporters’ and Drivers’ Council.
During the meeting it was mooted that vehicles should take the Imphal-Jiri route and accordingly the Chief Minister has issued an instructions that all vehicles should take this route.

Following this vehicles have started heading towards Jiribvam and they are expected to arrive at Imphal eithger by tomorow or the day after.
Makru bridge also went out of service since the past few days as it got worn out more and more.
Even as the landslide near Nung Dolan has been cleared to some extent and Makru bridge repaired, loaded trucks remain stranded.
Nonetheless, passenger carrier taxis have resumed movement along the highway.
Notably, a large number of vehicles have been re-routed along Imphal-Jiribam highway after Imphal-Dimapur highway was cut off after a section of the highway caved in near Kohima.
