Imphal, July 17 2013: Just a couple of days after four among the seven persons involved in one of the largest drug hauls in the State were released on bail, the remaining three persons including Col Ajay Choudhry have been released on bail today by the NDPS Court .

The three are however still in jail as the order of the Court is yet to reach the jail authority.

The order is expected to be delivered to the Jail authority tomorrow after which the three persons will be allowed to walk out of Sajiwa jail, said a source.

An order issued by a Special Court of NDPS, Manipur said the three persons, including Col Ajay Choudhry, have been released on bail on a surety bond Rs 1 lakh each.

Other than former PRO of PIB (DW), Col Ajay Choudhry, the others released on bail today are Ngairangbam Brojendro, Assistant Manager (Customer Service) of Indigo Airline, Imphal and RK Babloo, a personnel of 165 Bn TA.

RK Babloo is reportedly a deserter.

A team of Thoubal district police commandos had arrested six persons along with huge consignments of contraband drugs, worth Rs 25 crore, near the new building of Pallel PS on February 24 this year.

Another accomplice, Seikholen Haokip, son of sitting Congress MLA TN Haokip, was picked up from his Deulalane residence the following day along with a consignment of drugs by Thoubal police.

It may also be mentioned that four persons among the seven, including Seikholen Haokip, were released on bail on July 15.In his bail application, Col Ajay Choudhry has pleaded that he was not aware of the presence of drugs in his bag while also rejecting that the drugs were seized from his possession.

Similar pleas were submitted by the other twoNg Brojendro and RK Babloo.

The Court order however restricted the three accused from leaving the State without prior permission from the Court.

They should also cooperate in investigation of the case.

Efforts to contact Leimakhong to inquire where Ajay Chowdhry would be stationed drew blank as no responsible officials were available to comment.
